The halls of Lakeside Elementary are empty this week, yet they reverberate with the sounds of another successful year. We can all be proud of the new highs we've achieved while working through complex financial challenges this year. For some, there may be some sadness. A time for saying goodbye as many of our friends, faculty, students and their families will be leaving for new adventures in other places. However, as someone once said, “For every joyful reunion, there must have been a farewell”.

Next year, we will see some changes to the Lakeside family. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all staff members who are leaving and wish them all the very best in the next stage of their careers/lives, particular our beloved principal Mrs. Fee. Additionally, I would like to welcome our new principal Ms. Linda Pazos who I am sure will fall in love with Lakeside as I have.

As I look back over the past, analyzing the present, and setting goals for the future I think and say, “Wow, what a year”! To better state that- what a GREAT year! It was wonderful to have completed another exciting year filled with much excitement working with the student and teachers at Lakeside. I’d like to personally thank every-one for their support during the year. I effectively completed another great year thanks to the efforts of our wonderful principal, staff, SAC, SAF and school community partners.

Each student and teacher has brought such joy and happiness to Lakeside. This year was filled with many great activities, field trips, etc,. This year teachers were actively involved in training. Currently, 98% of the teachers are CRISS trained and will be implementing the CRISS strategies into their daily lessons. I am sure this will provide students an avenue to learn new ways of learning.

The end of an academic year is always a time for celebration and reflection. This academic school year is one we can all feel proud of. Although we are still waiting for 4th and 5th grade FCAT scores, our 3rd grade scores out performed last year’s scores. This does not happen by chance but by everyone I hope each and every one of you has a great summer. Go out and enjoy the beautiful beaches and sunshine of our beautiful state. Read, relax and reflect and stay safe.

Best Wishes to all with love, Mrs. Correa
