Please check our calendar for FCAT testing dates and read this important district information regarding FCAT. FCAT TESTING PARENT LINK MESSAGE This is a special message from the Broward County Public Schools. There are state rules and regulations regarding the administration of FCAT testing in our schools. Some of them relate to the prohibition against student’s having in their possession, on their person or within their reach any device that records or transmits voice, text or photographic images. The devices include – but are not necessarily limited to – cell phones, cameras, computers and other devices that are capable of recording and/or transmitting information and pictures. Any student found to have in their possession or within their reach such devices will be disqualified from testing; their test materials will be invalidated; and they will be subject to disciplinary action. Please ensure that your children know and understand these state rules and regulations regarding FCAT testing and comply with them. Thanks for your time.

Remember our motto... "Work hard and shine in 2009!"

Dear Parents,
At Lakeside we truly accomplish great things when we work together! School Grades have just arrived and our “Work Hard and Shine in 2009” Motto has really paid high dividends. I am proud to announce that once again Lakeside has earned an A+ Grade from the State of Florida for the 10th year in a row and has also met the No Child Left Behind adequate yearly progress or AYP criteria for the 7th year in a row! Best of all, Lakeside is one of the top 10 schools in all of Broward County showing gains in all areas! What a reward for our hard working students and terrific teachers to see such positive results. Thus we end school year 2008-2009 with high expectations for new school year 2009-2010!

We are already hard at work getting ready for a new year to begin in August with great enthusiasm. One of the most important questions for students is “Who will be my new teacher?” Students and parents will be receiving telephone calls from the new teachers on Thursday, August 20th to let you know. The following day, Friday, August 21st we will host our “Meet & Greet” so that the first day students will already know where their new class will be.

Here are a few of the important dates and times for you to mark on your calendar. Friday, August 21st is our “Meet & Greet” Time: Kindergarten - 9:00 AM; 1st Grade – 3:00 PM and 4th Grade – 3:00 PM; 2nd Grade – 4:00 PM and 3rd Grade – 4:00 PM; 5th Grade – 5:00 PM Monday, August 24th – First Day for Students 7:55 AM – First Bell 8:00 AM – School begins

I look forward to another exciting year at Lakeside with great expectations. I am so missing the faces of our Lakeside Family. But it won’t be long before I see the smiling faces of our returning students and parents. I am also looking forward to seeing all the new faces of our entering students.

Keep up the good work as part of the Lakeside Learning Team and let’s all continue to “Work hard and shine in 2009.”

Here’s wishing you a wonderful, safe, and happy summer! See you soon!
